Made for you with the fanciest silver-tipped leaves, our Imperial Formosa tea is mesmerizing. Its sweet amber liquor, paired with a supple bouquet of orange blossoms and chestnuts, is complimented by gentle hints of dates and musky cedar and an extraordinary fragrance.

Why it’s Special:


  • The most famous of the Taiwanese Dark Oolongs

  • Natural notes of peach and guava that are prominent on the front palate

  • Notes of buttered toast and honey in the finish

  • A complex flavor that is heavier than a Green Oolong, yet lighter than a Darjeeling

  • The tea leaves are naturally torn while growing, giving the tea intense citrus flavors


What to be Careful of:


  • It is darker and more oxidized than a Green Tea, giving it a more robust flavor

  • Not as malty and astringent as Black Tea

  • Does not pair well with milk and sugar

  • More caffeine than Green Tea, but less than Black Tea

  • While it has strong and natural flavors, do not expect it to taste like a tea blend

Among teas, Oolong ranges more in quality than any other because they are easily the most labor-intensive. Immediately after a proper Taiwanese leaf is plucked, fresh shoots are withered in sunlight while periodically hand massaged to accelerate the production of flavor compounds. They are then pan-fired, rolled and dried. Golden Moon desired a Taiwanese Oolong of the highest quality, so we shirked not a step.
