The most widely celebrated tea in Asia, this mysterious tea is aged in secret caves for several years where it takes on a sweet, earthy aroma. Its health benefits to you are immeasurable.
Ingredients: Aged Pu-erh Tea •
Why it’s Special:
** Pu-erh is a fermented tea, giving it a dark, earthy flavor
** The Chinese believe it is good for digestion, making it great to drink after overindulging on a big meal
** Studies have shown it is good for cholesterol
** The only tea that tastes better as it ages
** Formed into mini “tuocha” cakes, each cake making either a larger cup or a small pot
What to be Careful of:
** Like caviar or coffee, Pu-erh is a bit of an acquired taste. But, it is highly addictive (flavor wise) once you start drinking it
** You must “rinse” the tea for 20 seconds before serving to remove a fermented flavor
** Quite strong. The aroma is reminiscent of a hand rolled cigar
** Use multiple, short steeps to maximize its flavor
** Purists drink it “neat,” but we find it pairs well with milk
