In Shanghai, it is traditional to chew star anise seeds (licorice flavor) after a meal to aid in digestion and cleanse the breath. Many restaurants also offer Chinese white tea at this time. I would chew the anise seeds and then take a quick sip of white tea, blending the flavors in my mouth. The taste was balanced and pleasant.
