White Tea

The least proceesed of all tea, White Tea takes on a subtle, yet complex flavor with the addition of a chrysanthemum flower. Golden Moon Tea was the first nationwide importer of White Tea. This long-term expertise brings the finest flavor and quality to our diverse line of White Tea.
Ingredients: Bai Mudan White Tea, Chrysanthemum Flowers   •

Why it’s Special:


  • Light, sweet vegetal flavor with a walnut finish

  • Aroma of roasted veggies over a coal fire

  • Containing mostly the buds of the leaf, giving it a medium bodied flavor

  • Air-dried giving it a “pure” flavor

  • Plucked in late April, which gives it more of a “green” flavor than most White Teas

What to be Careful of:

** Look out for crusty, brown leaves, which is a sign of a low quality tea (you will never find this at Golden Moon Tea)
** Flavor is closer to a Green Tea than most White Teas
** Fluffy leaves means that the tea takes up more space when you store it than most teas
** While it is more assertive than other White Teas, its flavor is subtle nonetheless

White tea is popular and thus varies in quality. The processing of ours requires that leaves only be picked between March 15 and April 10. It is never picked on rainy days, if dew has not dried or if there is frost on the ground. No purple buds are allowed and the stems must not be too long or too short. Partially open leaves or leaves damaged by wind, handling or insects are rejected and placed into a lower grade. Our special White Tea is produced using the two leaves and a bud portion and is then withered to produce leaves that are not black or red but green in color. Why go to so much trouble? Taste our White Tea and you'll wonder no more.
