So when Queen Elizabeth is rumored to prefer Keemun tea, black tea lovers should pay attention. Keemun is generally known as China’s finest black tea and has been called the “Burgundy wine of teas.” Due to its complex flavor, this Keemun has strong notes of unsweetened chocolate and a finish of stone fruits. It also sidesteps the really strong assertiveness of traditional breakfast teas giving you a smooth black tea that is tasty enough for British royalty.
Organic Black Tea
Our Keemun is a Hao Ya grade and comes from Qimen County in Anhui Province in Eastern China. The farm is located on stumpy hills between the Yangtze River and Yellow Mountains. After the leaves are plucked in early May, they undergo a long withering (oxidation) process of four to five hours - twice as long as most black teas. The leaves are then rolled and placed in large bamboo baskets where they are stored in a steam filled room, which helps give this tea its characteristic chocolate flavor.
